Tips for Picking Players

Strategic tips for selecting your fantasy golf team and maximizing your score across the four majors.

Picking the right players is the difference between winning your pool and finishing last. Here are the strategies that separateconsistent fantasy golf winners from the rest.

1. Don't just pick the world #1

Yes, Scottie Scheffler is the best player in the world right now. But at 40 credits, picking him eats nearly half your salary cap. You need to find the right balance between top-tier talent and value picks.

2. Look at recent form

World rankings update slowly. A player ranked 40th who has won his last two events is a better bet than a ranked 15th player who has missed three cuts in a row. Check recent tournament results before making your picks.

3. Consider course fit

The Masters rewards long drivers and players who can navigate Augusta's unique contours. The US Open typically favors ball-strikers who can handle the rough. The Open suits players comfortable in links conditions. Research which players historically perform well at each venue.

4. The value pick

Every successful fantasy team needs at least one value pick — a player ranked 50-80 who is priced at 7-8 credits. These players give you room to afford two elite golfers at the top of your roster.

5. Captain wisely

Your captain choice is arguably the most important decision you make. The -3 bonus for an even par or better round can be the difference between winning and losing. Pick a captain who you trust to play a solid round in the early part of the tournament.

6. Think about the cut

Only the top players make the weekend (typically top 50 and ties). If you pick a player who misses the cut, they score nothing for rounds 3 and 4 — while your opponents with better picks accumulate positive scores... or in this case, lower negative scores.
